This newly created position of Principal Archaeologist offers an exciting opportunity to become a part of a leading consultancy with a well-established business, client base and team of professionals working on critical projects across the country that include civil, mining, resources and construction sectors. This industry leader in heritage consulting has experienced solid growth over the last few years that is underpinning further expansion.

 

About the role

With extensive indigenous archaeological expertise, you will utilise your skills to execute archaeological surveys and excavations as well as complete heritage significance assessments, management plans and reporting to the highest standard. The role will be an integral part of the talented senior NSW team, supported by their Brisbane head office. The Principal Archaeologist will help drive the company's expansion and growth in the NSW region therefore excellent stakeholder engagement is vital.

 

About you

You will need to possess a dedicated background as an Archaeologist having worked extensively in similar indigenous cultural heritage roles within the New South Wales region. As the business grows there will be strong career prospects allowing you to expand skill set and leadership capabilities within a supportive group with a great culture. 

 

Key skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5- 10 years' experience in similar indigenous cultural heritage roles
  • Degree qualification in archaeology
  • Solid knowledge across areas such as property development, civil/ construction, mining, government and local councils' sectors
  • Report writing, policy compliance and community consultation
  • Supporting tenders, quotes and invoicing activities
  • People management and leadership qualities
  • Understanding and knowledge of applicable legislation
  • Ability to manage priorities, work autonomously and with the broader team
