Position Purpose
Provide technical input and advice on current joint venture coal projects and potential coal projects that Mitsui Resources Pty. Ltd. (MRP) is considering and explore business development opportunities for MRP. To maximise the value of MRP’s investments within Australia and internationally.

Forecasting &
Reporting
( 30% of overall activities)
• Monthly forecasting and reporting of JV’s.
• Identifying, collecting, analysing and interpreting relevant information to support effective decision making.
Technical
Management
( 30% of overall activities)
• Providing technical expertise to ensure sound governance at the operational level.
• Providing technical expertise in evaluating mine expansions and acquisitions in support of MRP’s growth strategy.
• Contributing to the conceptualising and implementing of MRP’s growth strategy.
• Contributing to the sound governance of project assessments and project implementation.
• Enhancing Mitsui’s coal knowledge base in mining operations.
• Strengthening MRP’s mining operational knowledge, expertise and skills which includes providing technical interpretation and training to MRP staff and management.
• Provide similar advice and support to other Mitsui mining businesses that may need assistance from time to time.
• Coordinate technical Consultants and Advisors.

• Assessing mine plans and project proposals which may include life of mine plans, expansions, cost reduction initiatives and/or acquisitions.
• Establishing a clear view of the current operational status of MRP’s mining investments.
• Monitoring, and where appropriate, working to introduce new mining technologies and processes into MRP’s existing operations.
• Evaluating potential risk exposures in the areas of operations, safety, health and environmental.
• Explore opportunities to grow Mitsui’s coal business by leading MRP’s tenement development from exploration, through study to operations.
• Contributing to technical due diligence for MRP’s transition to battery minerals.
JV Relationship

• Positively influencing mine site management and personnel to enhance business performance, strive towards best practice and continuous improvement.

Business Management • Provide support to the General Manager - Resource Development Department, Head of Operations and MRP management as directed.
• Contribute to the success of MRP, by driving the development and delivery of the coal strategy and business plans.

• MRP will transition to battery minerals whilst enhancing its coal portfolio.
• This position fits into the investment arm of the Coal & Carbon Solution Division and has
a great deal of contact with Tokyo, primarily in relation to providing them with technical
and operational context within which the various projects are operating.

Person Specification
Qualification:
• A professional mining engineering or geology qualification.
• A post-graduate qualification in business administration or equivalent is an advantage.
Post Qualification Experience:
• Operational experience in coal mining is preferred.
• Experience in large scale surface operations, with underground experience considered
an advantage.
• Some battery minerals mining experience would be beneficial.
• Mine planning and project management skills would also be beneficial in this role.
• Relevant experience in merger and acquisition and expansion strategies, financial
analysis, and evaluating feasibility studies.
• Exposure to the coal industry in Australia is essential and in South America, Africa and
Indonesia is an advantage.
